Talking Nelson Tune, WOW!!!

I got to his place and he started doing the computer work. After a few questions we took the truck for a drive. The shifting is much faster and definitely keeps the power going, not hesitating. Someone else asked if the shift was a "Slam", not at all. Hard to explain but not a slam at all. He observed my driving style and asked a lot of questions to ensure he met my expectations. Twice we pulled over to fine tune it. He picked the shift point up to 5800. From a deap stop the first shift was at 45 and the second shift was at 90, even with the Valentine I didn't go any further. Wish I had a clock on that one as it does have the get up and go now.:22yikes: I also picked up a wiring harness for the LS1 electric fans from him. The harness looks like a factory setup, very happy and will now let the computer run the electric fans. I drove the 100+ miles home faster than I ever have and still could see the difference in the gas mileage. I can't wait for my trip to Dallas next week to see the gas mileage improvement.

I am one happy customer and definitely think that visiting to do the tune was worth my time and effort. If you want the gas mileage and performance JUST DO IT.

And my appologies to those who don't care, just don't read this...

Re: Nelson Tune, WOW!!!

Glad you're happy!
They do make a difference don't they?

I got a similar one (Westers) and LOVE it. Major difference over stock.

The difference in the time it takes to shift, no hesitation, the off the line acceleration, and the better moleage is deffinitely worth the time and money. He did not change a lot but the things he did make the truck come alive. Now I really have a reason for a Valentine1.

Re: Nelson Tune, WOW!!!

Which tune did you get? the 87, or the 93 tune? I got the 93 hot tune and it freakin rules!! I wish he could have done some fine tuning on mine, it needs tweaking a little, i still have some false knock b/c the 99 pcm is pulling timing for some odd ass reason. I'm gettin an 02 pcm soon i hope.

Re: Nelson Tune, WOW!!!

Blendwizard,

I can't remember where I got those moles, but when they get with the MILEAGE they are pretty good. Nice huh?

Jeverett,

I got the 87 - 89 and when we were road testing he played with a few more of the settings than what he would send to you in the mail. Knowing what he did I am glad I took the time to go to him as I learned a lot and I believe I got the tune closer to what I wanted.

Driving home a camaro kept getting in the way and then a beamer had to play. The road opened up to three wide and I had a small window to get away by punching it. Amazing how fast that thing will go from 35 to 80.

Hehehe.... i just wish I could afford a Nelson chip... Jethro, what did you paint your front foglight area with? It always irritated me that that is the one piece of plastic that is gray on the whole truck.

Re: Nelson Tune, WOW!!!

The body man that I used painted all the black parts on the front the same semigloss black. The billet grilles, the bowtie, the upper and lower valences of the bumper are all the same color. It also matches the powder black coating of the rims.

Thanks for noticing, it really makes those foglights stand out.
