93 325I trunk lock problem

Hello
How come my key won't open or lock the trunk? My key works in all other lock but the trunk. I have to lock the doors to get the trunk to lock. Key will go in no problem but will not turn. I am the 2nd owner is it possible the trunk lock has been replaced? If not is there something i am doing wrong?
thanks
George

I've had about the same problem, the key was really really hard to turn in the trunk lock. What I did about it was: I got a corrosion solving oil (CRC mos2 corrosion solver) and sprayed it in the lock. After that I put some good oil in there (I guess u could go with lock oil) and turned the key a couple of times. If that doesnt help I dont really know what to do. But try the thing I did. If that doesnt work the trunk lock might have been changed. I guess u could check it up at a bmw dealer or a locksmith.

Yeah try that first. The key should turn 90 degrees in either direction to lock/unlock, and pushing the key button should open the trunk (just in case you're not doing this right).

If the cylinder was changed, a locksmith won't be able to help. You'll have to go to a BMW dealer. Fortunately, the parts counter sells a lock cylinder repair kit, and they can code the lock to your key. At least that is the case with the driver & passenger door locks, I can't imagine that they don't do it for the trunk. This should cost you under $100, that's what my dealer told me about fixing my passenger door.

I have the same problem . . . . but, It doesn't matter to me . . You may have to get a new master key, your may be to worn since it's a 93.

Take your ID & Title or Registration to the $tealer and get a new one.
They have to fax the info to germany.
