Question 98 Camry V6 rpm

Hi, after replaced my camry's transmission, I found that the rpm goes to 1800-2000 when the speed between 0-20km, and then comes down to 1400-1600 when the speed goes up from 20-60km. This happens after the car warm up, and is completly stop and then press gas padle. I thought the rpm should goes up graduately as the speed goes up. I have talked about it to the garage who replaced the transmission, they tested it and told me that it is normal. I am wondering whether it is true. Please help me as I do not want the problem appear after the warrenty expires. Many thanks.

Turn off overdrive and try again. Are you accelerating at 20-60km(ph?) or just letting the car coast? If it's coasting then the low rpm is because the car is in 4th gear (OD) and is saving fuel.
