Lightbulb ticking noise on motor underneath wheel well

when i first start my 99 tahoe lt it has this ticking noise on the motor, doesn't get louder when u drive. but u can only hear it from the wheel wells on both sides of the truck. if u pop the hood you can't hear it so i take it its coming from the sides of the motor.....if anyone can tell me if they know what this is please help me

I WOULD CHECK MY STABILIZER LINKS. MY TRUCK DID THAT ON BOTH SIDES. IT WAS REALLY ANNOYING.I GOT UNDER IT AND SAW THAT BOTH OF MY LINKS WERE BROKEN.

It is most likley "Piston Slap", the GM aluminum block steel sleeved engines are prone to do this, should quiet down when engine is warm. It has to do with the dis similar metals expanding at different rates.
