I'm working on a special project and saw pictures of what would be the perfect transmission, however i have no idea what transmission it is. Can anybody identify it??
The transmission is a re-hash of the 4L60E that they call the 4L65E. Ratios are:
1st = 3.06
2nd = 1.63
3rd = 1.00
OD = 0.70
Its a wide ratio tranny best suited to either flat torque curves or extremely light bodies.
C5 and C6 vettes use a non-traditional driveline. The LS1 engine is up front, but the transmission is in the rear attached to the final drive differential. Typically the layout goes, engine-tranny-driveshaft-differential. With C5 and C6s, the layout goes, engine-driveshaft-tranny-differential. The driveshaft becomes an extension of the crankshaft and the tranny is in the tail.
YES!!! thank you so much! With the info u gave me, i found even more.... but.... i can't seem to find HOW the crankshaft is connected to the driveshaft
I know the engine has a funny looking bellhousing with a small bolt pattern connecting to the torque tube, but what I'm interested in is the connection between the crankshaft and driveshaft. Does the driveshaft go right into the crankshaft itself? Or is there a piece that connects the two?
