Aftermarket Head Unit

For all of those who arent impresses with the Cobalts stock system, and (like me) have been told that they need a $125-$150 part to install a new deck, there is much hope! I was told by Cartoys, who will no longer be recieving my business, that my car required a #125 "relocation unit" also known as the GM type II Data Bus Interface because the door chime is in the HU. Being the kind of person i am and knowing cartoys HAS NOT done any work on a cobalt (at least the one i went to), I called up another car audio store here in denver. They have worked on the cobalt and replaced the factory HU and it does not need the DBI. So if anyone tells you that you do need the DBI tell them they cant stick it up their a**. Also, being who I am i decided to do my deck install on my own. Just to be safe i decided to jsut disconnect the stock stereo and put my keys in the ignition and well, i still had a door chime. Still do, probably always will. Just telling you all before someone tells you otherwise and you spend $125 on a part thats not even made.

Cavaliers are the cars that need that harness. They feed bullshit that your airbags won't work in the Cavalier if you don't use that harness, but it only disables the chimes. There is a harness that you can get to keep the chimes though. So yeah...I don't think the Cobalt will need a relocation harness. BTW I hope to be rid of my Cavy and rolling in an SS in a few months!

Oh and sorry to bring up an old post. Just thought I'd check out the Cobalt forums
