Hello, I am new to this forum, so Hi :). Now to the problem. I drive a '95 Chevy Cavalier with a 2.2L manual transmission. After driving for about 15 minutes, when I am in a high gear going moderate speeds( in 4th going 30mph) and go to accelerate without downshifting, the engine revs up. The car still accelerates a little but not much. Example: I am driving down the road going 30 in 4th, I decide to accelerate, gas petal is pressed and engine revs up but car barely accelerates. A friend of mine thought it might be my clutch dying on me but he is not sure. Also that my flywheel might be damaged. It also does this if I am trying to accelerate hard in a low gear. Please Help!! :naughty: I hope I described the problem well enough.

If it is the transmission, is that a major, costly repair?

yeah, its not cheap, there are more expensive problems a car could have though, it should be under a $1000, regardless, its alot cheaper then an automatic

Well, I took my car to the shop yesterday. It was confirmed that it was the clutch, but my flywheel is okay.
