Question 1988 Camry tire size 185 - 205 'upgrade'

1988 Camry 4-dr, DLX, 2.0 L, auto, 140K
This car presently has 185/70R 14's, that are very worn.
I have another vehicle (Ford) that I'm parting out that happens to have a new set of 205/75R 14's on it. Can I put them on the Camry?
An on-line tire size calculator tells me that the 205's have a 1" greater radius (13.1 instead of 12.1) and a sidewall of 6.1 vs. 5.1 ...so they are considerably larger. The only way for me to know for sure if they will physically clear is to pay to have the tires put on the Toyota rims and check clearances.
I understand that they will put the speedo off by 7.9% (I'll be going 64.7 mph when it reads 60). I can deal with that. Does anyone know if they will rub or if this will create any other problems?? My concerns beyond physical clearance is if it may cause the transmission to 'hunt'...?
My gut says they are too big - but i have experience at being wrong. : )

Thank You,
Paul Hunkele
...and thank you for helping me out with the cold start injector problem a few months ago. ; )

Re: 1988 Camry tire size 185 - 205 'uggrade'

I couldn't tell you if it will rub or not. It will change the ride characteristics. Look at your old tires, pull the wheel around back and forth. Pull the fender up and down. Do you have an inch of clearance at the fender? How about underneath? My guess is that it will work. I put 195 14s on my old Camry. It worked fine, but rode different.
