I have always referred to my car as a BMW, exactly because I am not sure which is the right pronunciation. However, many people around where I live (central Maryland) say Beamer, but not one has pronounced it Bimmer.
I have, however seen it spelled 'Bimmer' in car magazines. No idea. I, too, would be grateful for some definitive advice.

seriously, i doubt you'll find a proper answer to that question as there just isnt one... theyre just alternative ways of saying BMW... people call it what they want to call it... theres no wrong or right... bimmer, beamer, bee em.. etc... just because some journo says it, it doesnt make it the "right" word...

OK, thanks. Yeah, I forgot--Notorious B.I.G., as well as a Nigerian friend I have, refer to them as Bee Em's. I think I'll stick with BMW, though.

No it isnt, it just came up between a friend and i. And ive always used "bimmer" but pronounced it as beamer coz i remember reading something from some people on a forum i used to belong to, and they said it was spelled bimmer for a reason (founding members or something) and i wanted to know if anyone else heard something similar

That's what I heard. I spell it bimmer and beamer, but pronounce it "bee-mer" either way.

it's spelt bimmer but pronounced bee-mer
beamer is just the dumb way of writing it
that's why there's a magazine called bimmer and not beamer

Again...
Beamer = motorcycles
Bimmer = automobiles
Btw, Beamer came first, for obvious reasons.
