Unhappy 1990 Toyota Camry - Stalls In Rain

1990 TOYOTA CAMRY -Got The Car In 1995 And It Has Always Had The Problem Of Stalling In Rainy Weather Or After Going Through A Puddle.

-Lately The Car Has Been Sputtering More Often And Finally Stalled For Good.
I Replaced The Rotor, Distributor Cap, Plug Wires & Air Sensor.
BATTERY IS NEW. STARTER IS NEW.

Plugs Are Gapped Properly And Getting Spark
Fuel Is Pumping Past The Filter To The Engine

I Added Injector Cleaner To Fuel About A Month Ago.
-what Next???

-I called the Dealer and was told that the problem may be a sensor or a timing adjustment.
Maybe a bad coil AND a timing problem? How to check the timing on this thing?

How is this the wrong forum? What could be happening is that your air intake is taking in water and causing your engine to choke. Check to see that the air intake box isn't taking water from the ground.

Re: 1990 Toyota Camry - Stalls In Rain

Based on what you have already replaced, and if this is a 4 cylinder 3SFE engine, the coil inside the distributor is the most likely culprit. They are famous for developing a hairline crack and then shorting to ground whenever there is moisture around. I replaced one about 5 years ago in my niece's 90. I got an aftermarket coil (Borg Warner) at Pep Boys for around $40. I believe they are around $50 today. The dealer wanted to replace the whole distributor for $600. You do have to remove the distributor to replace the coil, but all in all it's not a hard job.
