i have just come up with enough money to aquire an engine for my '93 240, and as wondering if it possible to do a swap with a 300zx tt. basically i need to know if it can be done and where i can find info how to pull it off. any info would be greatly appreciated

ok, here's the deal.the vg30dett is the engine you're thinking of. it was never meant to fit into the 240 whatsoever so you're gonna have to put a HELL of a lot of time and money into modifying the engine bay so it sits properly. mainly, you have to figure out where to have it sitting so the weight is distributed properly. i did a quick google on the vg swap into a 240 and only found pages about another guy looking to do the same to a 1990 240sx. i can't tell you much more than that.

just be aware that a vg30dett will cost you a hell of a lot of money and the swap labour itself will cost you half of what you paid for the engine. i've heard $8000 is about the total cost of the engine, parts and labour.. into another 300zx that is.. so add maybe another 3-4000 because its a 240.. its been done i'm sure but not without trouble. lots of it too. basically, you're gonna be a test pilot if you can't find anything on the internet.

and 240sxaddict, i'm not allowed to flame people for asking stupid questions or i'll get banned again. this isn't such a stupid question.. its more about someone being lazy and not going ahead with the swap. either that or they don;'t have the money to do it, which is probably the case.

buddy, you'd be better off swapping a rb26dett than a vg30dett since the rb isn't as wide as the vg.. if you want to be original, spend the money and maybe 8-10 months doing the vg swap or spend half the money to get more power out of an sr or rb

why do you want the 300 engine? go get an RB25 or RB26 or even a nice SR. And yes it can be done, anything is possible with the right amount of money...

ok....thanks i figured that should go the route of a rb-engine. i wasnt sure if it was possible to do a vg in a 240 thats all.

guys guys!!! My mommy gave me hecka money and i have a 240 and i was thinking if its possible to do a V12 Ferarri engine into mine and i would like to know what mods i have to do to the frame of the car and the engine bay before i go ahead and get myself a V12!!
