whirling noise between 60-80 kms.

Hi,

I've recently changed to 18" rims and dunlop sp901 225 40 18. Car is almost brand new so no problems at all propr to tire install. after rims were put on, the car shaked at 100kms and over till 120kms, and a slight whiling noise came on at 60kms-80kms. I figured it was a balancing problem so got the tires rebalanced. Now no more shaking and everything is smooth but the whirling noise is still happening between 60-80kms(car does not shake when this noise is happening). I took it back and the guy said it was tire noise. Just wondering if this is true because if it was tire noise why does it not happen at any other speeds?

Any suggestions?

THanks

no need to be sorry... I much rather it be the tire than the rim anyway. I was beginning to think the same thing. that or just wind noises going thru the spokes of the rims. there is no shaking of any sort or any other tire related trouble. the noise is actually there below that limit and above the limit but not as noticable. most likely the tires.

Ya I'd say it is the tires. At those speeds, the air's probably hitting them just right and causing the noise.
