Cleaning a K&N

How often should I clean My K&N filter, Its been in there for about 20,000 miles and I know It needs to be cleaned bad. And what is best to clean it with?

Re: Cleaning a K&N

Never NEVER use soap and water. They make a cleaning kit. You will ruin your filter if you dont use it.

you need to clean it with the cleaning kit, and reoil it again, with the oil that comes with the kit, but use the oil sparingly. just enough to give that filter that nice dark reddish color again, do not soak it in the oil...

You're gonna want to buy the kit they make to re-oil it, or they can't guarantee the 3-4 hp gain! Now that's some impressive horsepower.

The kit is about 10 dollars at Autozone. It's the cleaner, and then the oil to re-oil it with. - Make sure you clean it really good - use all the cleaner. But don't use too much oil, or you'll have it pulling excess oil onto your MAF, ect.
