98 Tahoe Trouble Code P1345

I just installed a remanufactured 5.7L engine in my '98 Tahoe. I drove it for the first time yesterday - it now has less than 30 miles on the new engine. Engine starts fine and runs OK, but seems to be a little rough at idle and maybe a slight miss at 50 - 55 mph. I installed new plugs, wires, rotor and dist cap along with the new engine. I am getting engine trouble code P1345 (something about engine ignition or misfire). Any ideas what my problem could be? I wonder if I could have installed the distributor one tooth out of alignment???

How did you set the timing? A scan tool is required to correctly set the timing.

I referenced the distributor and rotor positions at TDC on #1 and put them back in the same position on the rebuilt engine, also at TDC on #1 (compression stroke in both cases). I've tried restabing the dist one to two teeth either way and the engine runs worse.

Take a look at this thread which outlines the correct procedure to set the timing on a 96-99 Vortec.

Thanks for steering me in the right direction. A slight rotation of the dist cap resolved the problem. No more P1345 code!
