sunroof fuse?

where would the sunroof fuse be on my 97 grand am gt 2.4l 5 speed. my sunroof quit opening i've replaced the switch but don't want to replace the motor because of the price of 300+ dollars. If anyone knows where the fuse is located i'd greatly appreciate it ya let me know thanks!

Re: sunroof fuse?

It should be in the fuse panel. If, for some reason, it is not there, it should be on the sunroof motor itself - to access this, it would entail pulling down the front of the headliner. It should deffinately be in the fuse panel, however.

and welcome to the forum.

thanks for welcoming me to the forum i probably should have introduced mysel first..... my name is chris i'm 17 i have a 97 grand am gt 2 door that is red with the 2.4l twin cam motor and a 5 spd transmission with just over 105k on it. Just recently my sunroof decided to stop working it only moves about a 1/16th of an inch up or down and will not go back or all the way down and i am quite puzzled. i replaced the switch, the fuse is good, so now i figure something is up with the motor and i don't want to pay 300 bucks for one. so i took my headliner down tonight and removed the motor which seems to be in working order but i think the gears themselves might be bad but i'm not too sure?

Re: sunroof fuse?

no problem - it deffinately sounds motor related, that's for sure. Who wants to charge you 300$ for the motor? The dealer? I would buy it off of www.gmpartsdirect.com - you'll need to find out the part number first. Or maybe you could actually try opening up the motor and see if you can see what's going wrong.
