Custom Car Engine Question

Hi this is kinda a strange question but it is kinda important.......

I am thinking about making a custom car and i am thinking about using a V8 crate engine pushing 550-600 HP. the question is the engine will have the american muscle car sound and i want like a import/Excotic sound. my though was to change the sound would be to change the exaust. would this change it that much or would it work at all? If you cant change the sound that much what engine would you guys suggest to get that sound other then like a ferrari or a lamborghini engine. Thanx

Re: Custom Car Engine Question

a 600 hp v8 would be hard to cover up v8 have a very distanct tone..
try to install an import motor
you can reach the same hp numbers with a motor from an import

Re: Custom Car Engine Question

If you use an American engine, it will sound like it no matter what you do. If you want a different sound, use a different engine.

Yea man, sorry but it never works masquerading a v8 for a v12. Its kinda like the six cylinders that try to sound like an 8, it just never works, they always sound ricey above 3000 rpms(then they get pissed cause they just spent $400 on a crap sounding exhaust). What kind of car is this going in, because most street rods wouldn't sound right without a v8 unless it was a deusenberg or something.
