CONTOUR SVT'smy95cobras 07-09-2001, 02:38 PM does any one have the specs on these cars i drove my buddies and it was very quick for a little compact. spyder1 10-29-2001, 07:45 AM It all depends on the year. The 98 and 98.5 (E0 and E1) have 195hp. The 99 has 200hp with a compression ratio of 10:1. The 00 also has 200hp, but the engine is 50cc smaller. In order to get the same hp reading, the compression ratio was raised to 10.25:1. Hope this helps, I know you posted this a while back, but better late then never, right? ;) G-Forces 12-06-2001, 08:27 AM I'll never understand why the didn't toss this engine into the Cougar. It had the looks but the motor was a little under powered. :( The Contour SVT is a pretty nice car. spyder1 12-06-2001, 11:01 AM Actually, the 2.5 V6 is the same in the Cougar and CSVT. The CSVT just has more engine mods. The 2.5 V6 in the Cougar is the same as the 2.5 V6 in the newer Contour SE. I would agree though, 170hp for that 2.5 V6 isn't nearly enough for the Cougar. I like my 200hp CSVT. Thanks. corey 12-08-2001, 02:19 PM i like my 294 hp SVT ;) Heep 12-08-2001, 02:32 PM 294 hp! And I thought the stock ones were fast...:D:D kris 12-09-2001, 05:45 PM Originally posted by corey i like my 294 hp SVT ;) That does sound very appealing. :D spyder1 12-10-2001, 07:32 AM That does sound nice... mine is a bit over 200hp now, so I can live with that. I'm still waiting to see what type of 2003 models come out. I want a new car :D ScorchinM3 12-20-2001, 11:26 AM I think from what I have been reading, Mercury is supposed to be getting a version of the Mondeo soon. I just hope so, my first car was a Contour SVT '98, granted it wasn't a super speed demon it was fast. blacksnake98 12-20-2001, 11:52 AM Originally posted by corey i like my 294 hp SVT ;) I bet that's a fun little car to drive...:) What kind of SC did you put on it? corey 12-29-2001, 11:01 PM sorry it took soo long to reply, i dont visit these forums often i have a Vortech Blower on my car:) sohowcome 01-16-2002, 08:59 PM Originally posted by corey i like my 294 hp SVT ;) What kind of S/C do you have??? Didn't get much respect, but was fast. Scott 02 03-17-2003, 07:58 PM The SVT was a cool car. Didn't get much respect, but was fast. Do you think It ought to have had more respect 450HPviper? Sounds like you can post your opinion on that, I would like to hear it.:) 450HPviper 03-19-2003, 06:03 AM The 2000 contour SVT pushed out 200HP and 169lbs per ft. It had a 2.5 v-6. Scott, that is a 2.5 pushing out the same amount of power as your 3.8.:D It only weights about 3100lbs. So it will go. Maybe now you should give it some respect.:finger: Scott 02 03-19-2003, 01:06 PM No b/c its got them 3 ugly letters I hate! SVT!!!!!!!!  It means it has some kind of an upgrade. I bet my car pushes a ton more than that. 450HPviper 03-20-2003, 11:01 AM SVT can kick your ass Scott, so I would shut up if I were you. Scott 02 03-20-2003, 01:17 PM Yep, i will probably get all kinds of ford people in here telling me shit to get me pissed. 450HPviper 03-21-2003, 04:42 AM Yes, I am one of them.:flipa: Scott 02 03-21-2003, 01:41 PM Shiiiiit I'll give you the finger back. :finger: Jetts 03-21-2003, 01:48 PM af's first offical member boxing match scott 02 vs. 450hpviper i swear you two fight all the time, you two were fighting in another thread i was lookin at but hey whatever floats your boat if you are so bad stop talkin shit on the internet it isnt that cool Scott 02 03-21-2003, 03:10 PM We just goof off. Don't feel it yet. iorn eagle 04-03-2003, 11:12 AM well as you know chip and intake, exsult system. and top end work. it`s a fun ride. just killed another civic with turbo . see out there beyondloadedSE 04-03-2003, 12:04 PM Originally posted by iorn eagle well as you know chip and intake, exsult system. and top end work. it`s a fun ride. just killed another civic with turbo . see out there hmm...i guess im just a little skeptical. assuming the mtx-75 has a drivetrain loss of 17.5%, that works out to be 205 fwhp (240hp). We have a guy on contour.org with a 2000 svt hp and is pretty much modded to the max without head work. Some of his mods include: TRIPLE extrude honed upper intake manifold port matched to the an optimized LIM, optimized throttle body, msds port matched and optimized headers, under drive pulleys, tweecer fuel management, custom true dual exhaust....the list goes on. his dyno before msds headers, true dual exhaust, and tweecer was 192 fwhp. his website can be seen here (http://www.contour.org/carprofile/carprofile.php?a=display&uid=400) but if you can prove me wrong and show a dyno plot and ill believe you. :) iorn eagle 04-03-2003, 05:18 PM it`s been a while but i`ll look, there are some out runnig paxton on there but not me there is one with tiwn turbo. all i know is there is very few cars around here. that can touch it. it`s still a fun ride. see you out there and i wil look at the other site.      see you out there. beyondloadedSE 04-03-2003, 10:39 PM Originally posted by iorn eagle it`s been a while but i`ll look, there are some out runnig paxton on there but not me there is one with tiwn turbo. all i know is there is very few cars around here. that can touch it. it`s still a fun ride. see you out there and i wil look at the other site.      see you out there. only vortech makes a sc kit for the contour/cougar. however, an eaton sc was used on cougar eliminator. twin turbos are not even remotely possible, lol! the street flight turbo kit is already a tight squeeze with a single turbo. have you even looked at the space underneath your hood?! contoursvt 06-01-2003, 01:52 PM Originally posted by spyder1 Actually, the 2.5 V6 is the same in the Cougar and CSVT. The duratec was originally designed by Porsche and Ford then took the design and "fordarized" if you will. The svt motor just got the extrude honed UIM and primary port heads, bumped compression, aggressive cams and tuning, quasi dual exhaust, etc. Yes, the svt motor is better than the non svt because of the extra 25-30 hp depending on which year.
