The company that publishes the manual goes through the shop manual and, in theory, figures out exactly what all needs to be done in what order and writes an easier to read book for the average DIYer. So think of it as a simplified shop manual. I have only had to use a Chilon's manual a few times. I much prefer a Haynes manual over Chiltons. It's better written and I think more detailed. I'm not sure about availablity of Chilton manuals, but I know Haynes manuals are available at most Autopart stores. Even my Wal-Mart and Meijer locations had them at one time although I don't know if they still do. Grand~Am~Kid 04-12-2005, 03:40 PM Ok, thanks alot! Knifeblade 04-12-2005, 08:03 PM chilton's is published by Haynes, They aren't readily available for the late model years after 98.
