lookin for a good car that will last me a few years or so, something quick/fast i prefer rwd, but ill do fwd or awd, in the price range about 4-5 thousand, also manual tranny would be nice, and please no bullsh*t about me only being 17 years old and cant handle power, ive been driving since i was 14 in everykind of weather, ive drove powerful trucks, my brothers Lincoln Mark VIII with a 4.6 Liter Cobra V8, and my dads 03 nissan spec-v, and other rwd V8's, mustangs, camaros, so i know how to handle the power, but im wanting some input on what to get... :banghead:

I dont know, he is 17 years old so he may want something with low torque so he can control it a little better. I'm thinking an Eclipse. :grinno:

like i said i really dont want a fwd but if i had to go with an eclipse it would have to be a gsx, not no gs or rs

You can probably find a good FC3S RX-7 Turbo II in that price range. 200rwhp isn't bad.

Me speaking from my crazy rotary nut point-of-view.

toyota echo, you can turbo it like burntrice.

I would suggest a project car. When your low on funds thats the best things to do.

1. 92-95 civic. Get one with high miles for around 1-2k swap out the motor for a jdm spec one. You could go just plain motor swap and build an all motor monster, or you could to the infamous "Ls/Vtec" swap and turbo. If you do all the work yourself you could prolly get away with it for 3-4k total, mb even less.

2. The more popular foxbody buildup is allways good. huge aftermarken support prolly cost you a lil more for this one though.

3. DSM. Get a talon TSI or Ecplipse GSX or GST, also a Lazer (forgot who makes those, pontiac?) all the same cars with diff names. Those cars have a really good motor in em that if treated right last for ever. You put a larger turbo on them and a few other goodies and you have one fast FWD or AWD car.

plymouth makes the laser, theres one for sale around here for 500, the exterior really good condition, interior in good condition and tranny is good, all it needs is the motor, if i was to get that what would be a good motor to drop into that?

I'm not 100% but i think the 4g63 would drop in there. wich is the GSX/GST/TSI motor

you should get a geo metro untill you learn to control the power better. :)

No offense, but 95% of teenagers who say they can handle power...can't. The more confident they are...the higher the chance the car gets wrapped around a pole the first week. You can say you have as much experience as you want...but you wont convince anyone on here, because we've all heard it before, and we'll hear it again.

As to your question...there are plenty of suggestions here, and plenty of suggestions in the stickied thread in the street racing section. So start researching some of these cars, and take them on a test drive, see what you like best.

Dude, its not about being able to handle the power... its about being able to discern when its safe to use it and when it might not be.. no matter what car you have. People die in 4cyl cars too you know.

age does not equal experience. for future reference dont include your age in these types of questions so the old geezers on AF dont shove some stuff about being too young down your throat.

people answer the question, he asked about a car so suggest one.

I would say a 1st gen dsm, maybe a late 80s/early 90s 5.0. Nissan S-chassis cars are good too (you can use some parts from skylines); they can be had for under 5 grand.

thanks for ur input drftk1d, and to answer ur question civracer the fastest car ive driven was my friends 95 Z28, it was 6 spd, borla cat-back, headers, 3.73 gears, chipped, it was pretty fast, and also my brother had a i think 95? Lincoln Mark VIII, the guy who originally had it, swapped the stock engine for a cobra 4.6 liter, with flowmaster, and some cobra rims on it, it was auto but it was really quick for that heavy of a car
