Went to the drag strip today.

My best run was a 14.6@97mph with a 2.100 60ft and a .516 r/t. But, it was 74 degrees. I guess the warm weather definitely had an effect on my times.

whats the fastest youve ever done?

14.2@101mph.

I didn't do well when I went yesterday either.

I wouldn't think 74 degrees could make up for a 4 MPH difference though. That takes roughly 30-40 HP difference to obtain. Sometimes more.

Still, not too bad. I know how it is knowing there is more in the car.

Meh, better than what I'd run. Still decent times, good job.

I was babying it off the line too much. And babying third. Next time I'm gonna let it loose. I mean hell..I launched at not even 2,000 rpms and I was cutting 2.1s.

Guessing no supercharger yet?

I couldn't launch mine at all. The stock clutch wouldn't allow it. It would just slip. I had to roll off the line from around idle.

Yeah any word on that yet...j.w

yeah ... you have a lot more in there if you get off the line harder. I would thing your car should be able to trip a 1.8/1.9 if you let it ;)

... that would put you into the high 13 second territory.

My shits bone stock. I just needed to get some stock runs before I modded it. Just so I'd know what was improving and what wasn't. I think my 2.100 60ft (it was 2.100 exactly) is pretty good for my $88 cheapo 245/45/17 tires.

2.1 60' times are about right for a stock car with street tires.
I have never pulled anything better than a 2.139 on street tires. Last time down, I had better traction, but my clutch wouldn't allow for anything better than about a 2.3.

What tire pressure are you running?

I did not mean to imply anything bad about your 2.1 ... that is a fine launch. I just suspect your car is capable of a sub 2.0 in the 60'. ;)

under 30psi. around 27ish. it's capable of 1.9s definitely. you shoulda seen my launch that got that 60ft. it was weak as fuck. I dropped the clutch at like..1800rpms. It just made one nice loud squeak and took off. It was weird though...I was chirping going into 3rd gear. Like a loud chirp. I thought I hit the water box or something..but I asked my friend who watched and he said I cleared it. So yeah. When I did that particular run..I cleaned my tires off by revving it up to about 5,000rpms and popping the clutch and just letting them spin for a few seconds. My friend with an automatic GT was tearin' it up. He ran 14.2s@98mph with a best of 2.089 60ft. On street tires. First time there. And that's some shit..I taught him how to launch..and he was launching better than me. Oh well, we'll see what I can do next time. It was filmed..so maybe I have some good video of something. I'll post pictures too.

BTW: I ran an LS1 WS6 who couldn't run faster than a 14.4@101mph. I killed him all the way to the 1/8th where he'd pick it up and pass me.

I also went to the track today. I met up with Kris, and got a chance to run. But unfortunately Bad Tires + Bad Track= really bad time for me :grinno:. But it was a blast. I would hope that Kris doesn't give away my time :uhoh:. Although, I was a virgin to the tracks (my first time).

Well, when do you plan on SCing the Stang dampachi? I can't wait for you to bust out some 12's or something relatively close to that. Maybe a low 13 high 12? Good luck when you get it all said and done. L8...

Thats not fair Civ! Inquiring minds what to know!

Wow Damp those are good times for Cheapo tires!
Why is it that you guys lower the tire preasure and is it only effective on RWD or on all kinds?

dampachi

it helps the tires hook. and it's pretty effective on all cars. except maybe AWD. I can't wait for my first 11 second pass. I planned for my supercharger to be installed sooner. Early summer I hoped for. Now it's looking like mid summer. And you know whats holding me up? Exhaust. I can't fucking decide on exhaust to get. And I wanna get my exhaust done when I get my rear. So basically it's like this. I got my shifter, it's waiting to be installed. I'll probably do that in a few minutes. And then I'm going to get full exhaust, 31 spline axles, eaton posi, and 3.73s. Then, new rims+315s outback. THEN! Vortech s-trim @ 8psi. Tuned, I wanna put down around 390rwhp with 400rwtq+. I'll probably make my first 11.9 in late July.

Going from a 14 second car to an 11 second car is going to be quite the jump. Good luck with all your shit man.

Going from 230rwhp to 390rwhp is going to be quite the jump indeed!

Pretty good times for a stocker GT, especially your friends 14.20s, lol.

My first track day will be April 23rd. Gonna try and get some new slicks between now and then. Provided the car runs like it did at the end of last year and the track is in the same condition, then new slicks should put me in the 1.49 60ft. range.
