well the check engine light is on because of the temp sensor. u gotta put it in the piping. as for the aem bypass valve, i wouldnt use it. a bunch of them just got recalled cause a piece of it can break off and fall into the engine and there is no warranty for non-aem products.

Yes indeed, that is why you have a MIL. As for turning off the MIL, I would suggest checking <http://www.se-r.net>. I don't know the procedure for OBD-II cars, but I'm 95% sure it's there.

You'll have to cut out a section of pipe to account for the length of the AEM valve. Just find where it fits best.

It is true that there was a recall, but the offending part has been fixed. I would not (never ever) consider running a CAI w/o the AEM valve. I did for a short time in my SE-R, but was quite worried about it. That was before the valve was available. Now that it's available, it's going in with my new SE-R engine.

what does the cold intake do, and what advantages does it have over the stock?

I'm sure I'll get corrected if wrong, but here goes:

the Cold Air intakes
1. Provide an easier path for the air to follow to combustion. Less turbulent air will get to where it's got to go quicker and with less effort.
2. The Cold Air is an advantage in that it makes better HP.
Cold air is denser than hot air. It will combust better as the gasoline has better 'fuel' (the oxygen in the air) to burn with.
3. When the hood is up, it looks cooler.

It is a very simple upgrade for a relatively small cost from what I understand. Though, it could be a problem if you were to get some water sucked into the intake and the water made its way to the engine....That's not too good a thing to happen. But, I've never heard of this happening, just heard the warnings.

What else guys?

oooh...i c. then that raises another question. how does that differ from a pop charger? what r their differences?
Yah! i think the cold air intake looks pretty cool too!

how much would a cold air intake cost?

POP Charger (I think) just helps with lowering the turbulence of the air going in, letting it flow easier. Also, gets rid of the restriction of the stock intake system, which has all these bends and kinks that, by their nature, impede the flow of air.

But, the POP charger does not get cold air. It gets its air from the engine compartment. The engine is hot, so the air is hot. It's still an improvement over stock, How much though? Probably very small amount, But it still looks cool.

A drawback for me to the full Cold Air Intake is I belleive you must do some cutting of the inner fender wall. But, for that effort you get *noticeable* HP gains.

As for price, well, ask Luke (G22DET in the forum), he can probabl set you up.

I'm still trying to decide what to do...POP or CAI, and then which manufacturer to go with.

cutting was not hard at all, used a roto-zip and ten minutes it was done, just made the hole larger.

the check engine was probably cuz of one of the sensors but all you have to do is find your ECU and turn the diagnostic screw and turn it back to reset it...I forgot the ECU blink codes...hope that helps...
