Use the proper fluid, it's as low as $12 on the aftermarket. It should take 3 liters on a simple drain & fill (pan removal).

Afonso- There is a VW factory recall on this year model passat with automatic tranny. It is a TS recall. IF you tell that to the service guy at the dealer they will know what to look for, besides they are the only ones who can perform the recall- no shop can do it- so you must go to the dealer. Basically what it is ... is a simply electrical relay switch that controls the throttle, and I was told that if you are just cruising at highway speeds- this is when it will kick in and increase your rpms, and keep increasing them until you kill the gain with the brake. The technician at Metro VW in Irving TX told me that if you occassionally give it enough punch in the pedal, i.e.: gas, then that would prevent it from throttling up. I'm still needing to get this recall done myself, but all the dealers in Central TX don't even have the part and they will have to order it.

Good luck.
