hey guys... i've been looking through some of the more recent posts on here about some problems that people have had with their 2002 kia rio's and such, as my mom purchased one from my uncle late last year, and it currently has about 25,000 miles on it i believe, and seems to run fine and such... but i just wanted to ask if theres anything in particular that we should keep an eye out for that might go wrong with it... for example, ive seen a lot of issues on here involving broken timing belts and such that have actually trashed entire motors instead of just bending or breaking the valves and/or the cylender head. just lemme know if anyone knows of anything like that that i should watch out for so that we dont end up running into some sort of serious problem like a trashed motor. thanks!

don't worry about the belt since u have a 60k warranty on the engine and only cause ur second owner first had 100k

umm... lmao... i prolly should have mentioned that my uncle goes to auctions and buys cars that have been in accidents then fixes the problems/damages and sells em again. thats how we got this car. 3rd owner prolly doesnt have any warranty does it?

even after its been in a crash? ive been told that any accidents void the warranty. if so this blows lol.

not necessarily it all depends on where the damage ocurred (on the car) and if it has being notified to KMA if it hasnt and you are a good body repair man u would know what to fixed to almost perfection so that the techs at the dealer can't tell if the car was in a wreck

for a 10k car its cheaper for them to throw in a new engine then fix the piece of crap. You want life out of the thing, get a diesel benz.

Timing belts routinely go out before 60K and do trash the engine. Not to mention that the service at the Albuquerque dealership is horrendous. Ours had tons of trouble even before 45K. Buy a better car with a longer history. I am a prior kia owner and will never make that mistake again. KIA=Junk
