Re: Reversed battery terminals

You can't tell by looking at it. You should take it to a shop and have them check it out. If it won't communicate with a scan tool, it's shot.

Re: Reversed battery terminals

Also, what year is it? I'm parting out a 93-ish S-10 (should work for 84-94, according to an auction listing on e-bay), if you want the computer, I'll pull it out for you. The check engine light was on from the engine overheating, so you will either have to clear the code or live with the light being on

Re: Reversed battery terminals

the 1 thing that I really like about top post batteries is the fact that 1 post is larger than the other making this mistake harder

right direction is simple.....get a FULL wiring diagram and start pulling wire till you find it....use a meter for continuity tests....or take it to a shop.

Re: Reversed battery terminals

Make sure the shop you take it to specializes in automotive electronics. There is a shop where I live that is called "UAE - Universial Automotive Electronics". I have had to use them a few times to fix the problems that I could not find. Look for a place like that or maybe even a custom stereo shop.

Re: Reversed battery terminals

I personally wouldn't take it to a stereo shop. They are great at installing new things, just not trained to search for problems
