98 1.8 turbo

hi all,

I'm asking for a friend with 98 1.8 turbo, 105k miles:

car was being driven there was a tapping noise oil light flashing then car comes to a stop all within 2 mins.
one mechanics view is possible oil pump failure .
engine still turns but will not start.

Can anyone help this friend?
many thanks

Usually when an oil light comes on people shut off there car and get it tow'd to a repair shop. The oil light comes on when there is an oil pressure problem. If the engine is not getting enought oil pressure then the engine is not being lubricated enough. If it isnt lubricated enough, metal gets really hot and parts start to break or weld together. Problably time for a new engine.
