Hi, am a newbie on this forum. I have a 2000 Blazer,4.3 LT V6 W 4 door with 83K. This is a very nice educational forum I have read. My question is: does the front drive shaft turns in 2WD during normal road run? Thank you in advance. It clunks from park into reverse and I checked the shaft end to the t-case has play about 1/8 or 1/4 turn on it. It's a great site!

So does it mean it turns all the time but not engaged when at 2WD. I apologise cause I have no idea.I appreciate your quick response.
Essecially, the front freewheels until the transfer case is actualated which will power them.
Other than that, they are just along for the right.
Ok, hate to bring up such an old post, however this is the only thread I could find regarding this. On the 2000 models, does the front drive shaft stay engaged to the axles at all time or does the front run axle run on a vacum? The reason I am asking is because with my blazer in neutral and 2wd the front drive shaft will not turn. All other operations seem to work, but the front shaft does not seem to free up no matter what I do. Thanks.
Each generation is most certainly different . On my 89 , the front axles turn with the wheels . When the transfer case is locked in , the front diff is also locked to transfer power . But I realize this is old tech , with lots of these versions have AWD capability . Rob
