Summer nights and Honda Civics (a racers story)

It was Not a typical English Summers evening, for once it was warm enough to cruise around with the windows open, you know the feeling when everything is just right, sit back, one hand on the steering wheel, warm wind blowing through the car, the low drone of the engine wafts into the sky as the last grasp of the sun relinquishes its grip on the land. Perfect. The car feels right, it gleams in the yellow light of the street lamps, you’ve a tank full of gas, the night is young and the worlds your oyster, Time to fodder some lesser mortals.
Its usually about this time when you suddenly discover that every other car driver has disappeared. That funny “sods law” thing that happens, you must have had it at some time? When you’re a passenger in someone else’s car, every man and his dog is out in their supped up Civic, BMW or whatever. When your on the prowl, nothing, nowt nada, not a single racer is about??????
Not tonight though, tonight was prime foddering time. Now who wants to be first?
It wasn’t long before the question was answered, enjoying the last chorus of Greenday`s Album when a distant set of headlights grabbed my attention, not all to dissimilar from my own headlights, It must be…….yes, one of my favourite kills, an Integra R, this thing had more bling than Mr T in a Duraglit Factory, and was asking to be taken down, Some Gangsta rap blasting out the heavily tinted windows, and as it happens, on one of my fave stretches of single lane twisty country road, hahahaha, come to papa.
I let the Teg take the lead (I like to see the look on peoples faces as I burn past them) and hound him for a mile or two, enjoying the chase and waiting for a suitable overtaking point, when one appears, WHAM, down goes the lead boot on the accelerator, the Turbo winds up an the induction roar grows, the G-forces push me back into my seat, the engine screams to life and the Integra becomes a dim and distant memory all to quickly, Blah…..that was no fun, verging on pathetic really. Maybe the main roads will bring some better offerings.
Hit the DC into town, Hmmm what do we have here, a BMW, another fave kill of mine, quick check to make sure its not an M5, (those things are quick and can lead to some embarrassment). Low and behold its not, just a 328 followed by a bunch of letters. See if he’s up for the challenge, He increases speed a little, but not enough to indicate hostilities so I don’t bite and we go our separate ways. Cruise past a couple of Civics and a Del sol, the occupants show interest in the car but don’t take the challenge, Bugger, word must be getting round (I have one of 2 GT4`s in the area) Races are getting few and far between.
Feeling a little bored I relax back into cruise mode, down come the windows, the now night air has a bit of chill………. up go the windows, Brrrrrrrrrr. On goes Metalica and the heater and I head off home despondent.
Just about to give up all hope when up pulls a Impreza, one of the original ones, looks nice, bit of work, big brakes, WRC stickers all over it, and that Oh so familiar exhaust rumble, now here is a chariot worthy. The guy looks over (rare) and nods in approval (even rarer) and give a thumbs up (almost unheard of) he blips his throttle and floors it, luckily I had foreseen his actions and had knocked it down a couple of gears and floor it too, now here’s the fun bit, the time I have been waiting for all night, the point at which all the waiting comes together, even the car understands and has somehow gained extra horsepower, the Celica surges forward, clawing at the road, all 4 wheels gripping as if life itself depends on the tyres holding on, the engine whines higher and higher, the turbo sings ever more loudly, the rush of induction air almost sucking in the hood, clutch in, 4th gear, clutch out, ACCELERATE, go go go. The engine again gives it`s all, the turbo`s now at 0.7 bar, 0.8 bar, 0.9 bar FULL BOOST, Gooooooooo, the Impreza makes no ground and soon starts to drop back, the other driver franticly changing gear, willing his car on, squeezing every last drop of power from his boxer engine but to no avail, the GT4 begins to take over, another Scoobie to the kill list. Eventually the inevitable car length appears between me and the other driver, the end is nigh and the Impreza admits defeat, throttles down, I follow suit and let up. Victory is mine, a worthy adversary but a welcome win. The guy draws level and gives the thumbs up, shrugs his shoulders and pulls onto the slip road.
Glowing with pride and gratification its time to head home, the roads are quiet and its dark and not a lot is moving about now, only the arnco barrier and Metalica for company, cruise mode again and home, when all of a sudden BAMB, a Civic blasts past, a Ricer fly by, shall I beat him down, Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Still got lots of petrol left?????

My only question, how could you not be paying attention enough to be on the ready for the rapidly closing Civic to halt it's passing speed when it got close enough? Other than that nice kills.

Whats happening to the youth of today??? It must be the playstation effect, No imagination. Its all about enjoying the story, not seeing reading as a chore. If I was gonna put cliff notes in I wouldnt have bothered with the stroy. Wheres the fun in reading a post that says - Went out, beat an Integra, a Scoobie and a Civic, the end?
but just for you.

Cliff notes Went out, beat an Integra R, a Scoobie and a Civic after a ricer fly by. the end. :sly:

Now back to Grand Tourismo 4....... :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh:

Lol.

Hold On gotta read it, It's pretty long... I'll edit my post and say if it's good or not.

Edits:\
Good story +1 for Green day :P
But that wasn't really a ricer fly-by, Ricer fly-bys is where they pass you after the race is over and speed off. What you experienced was just a speeding civic probably :P

Cliff notes part Two (the revenge of the cliff notes) - Went out, Beat Integra R, Scoobie and got passed by a rather rapidly speeding Civic (if thats possible? maybe I was going backwards very fast  ).

At this rate the cliff notes will be longer than the story :eek7: :sly: :uhoh:
now go to www.badgerbadgerbadger.com and wait for the end of the first song.......

Back to Grand Tourismo 4 again, damn having to do those licences yet again

Toyota Celica GT4 = 265BHP of All wheel drive Rallying goodness. See my sig. Probably "one" of the most famous WRC rally cars of the 90`s, and the chosen charoit of the great Carlos Sianz.

You dont get em in the states, would never pass your strict emissions laws.

strict is an understatement, but hey there's ways around it...my car doesn't pass emissions either. but i can still drive it on the road ;)

I think the GT-Fours Celica still has the record for quickest mountian climb at pikes peak driven by Rob Millen. but I'm really not sure about it. I know he climbed it and set a hell of a record. And we do have a few Celica GT4s here. I know they are hella easy to import from Europe. youd have a harder time importing a Toyota aA (Scion xA).

oh and nice races too, I'll proof read your paper and return it to you in a few days. Your grade will be posted online in about three months.

:D Those nights are the best. Nice kills, good description. I especially liked the "Clawing at the road" thing. Loved that descriptive analogy.

Damn, good story! Hope to hear more from you soon.

Nialusa's storytelling > Redneck's storytelling.
Sorry Redneck, maybe you could reclaim the title?

cheers everyone, good to know that the alternative, not usual run of the mill kill stories are appreciated. Hopefully the summer will bring more of the same.

nialusa's storytelling > civracer's storytelling.

I'll admit, it was a very good story. But Nialusa>Civ? Now that's just crack-smoking crazy right there. J/P Nialusa, good story. But not better than mine :). L8...
