Do i scare cars?-Jayson- 04-02-2005, 11:27 PM err trying to get a race is getting kinda hard for some reason. Before it wasnt that hard, but now it seems like people see the A pillar and gauges and dont want to race, or as soon as i get on it, they get off it. Ok so anways Driving around looking for a race, its like not getting sex for a month, pretty soon you start noticing the fat nasty chick that lives next door. But i kept my standards high. BTW this was all tonight. First im stopped at a light and next to me pulls a nice 05 F250 Turbo Diesel, im pretty sure thats what it was. At first i think nothing of it, its a big truck. He takes off hard with the turbo spinning, so i get on it and instantly pull hard on him. I have to slow down bc of a car in front of me, but he takes off speeding still, so i let him go not wanting to chase in traffic with cops out. I pull up to a light and line up with him, we make eye contact, he starts edging the line like hes gonna take off, i do the same. Light turns green. . .he takes of normally. . .ugh Now still cruising around and i see a mid to late 90s V8 trans am. Ohh goodie i think. I get next to him and give it a few stabs at the peddle to try an entice him. He does the same, i get on it hard, and run, he doesnt follow. . .we line up at a light together, same thing as before. Make eye contact, he edges the light, so do i. Light turns green takes of normally. . .mother fucker. So finally i drive a little farther down and pull a michigan U turn. As i do it, a nice 03 Mustang Saleen drives past in the direction im now headed. Oh shit i think, this is gonna be sweet. I pull up fast to him, get next to him just as we get stopped at a light. I give him a rev and he looks over, light turns green and. . .he takes of normally. He keeps reving his exhaust which sounded really nice, each time i stab the peddle and try and get him to go. I do a few quick 40-80MPH runs. . .nope he wont follow. We do this for about 2 miles, finally i give up and go home. . . maybe i should tint my windows so no one can see my gauge pod. . . ZackKVtec 04-03-2005, 12:00 AM I have the same problem exept i have a sleeper, and everyone thinks they will just beat me with ease. I was on the highway the other night and a yellow s4 (new one - v8) pulls up to the side of me, so i rev my engine.. and nothing. So i just pull a quick 70- ~100 run. Nothing. It was even a kid probably no older than 19... I just think sometimes they dont know how to drive their cars or something, or maybe they're just not into racing. If you pulled up to me and revved with the A-pillar gauges I'd definetly race you... tha_new_guy 04-03-2005, 12:29 AM I have the same problem exept i have a sleeper, and everyone thinks they will just beat me with ease. Put an ECOTEC POWER banner across your windshield and install a body kit...you'll have more races than you want. ZackKVtec 04-03-2005, 12:32 AM new guy, go to the thread that says 0-70 gsr that link should work Thourun 04-03-2005, 12:49 AM I always see cars that look like they would race when I'm walking around. I was walking around with a class on ethnic culture in a local city and a tib takes off as we are about to cross the street, a bunch of the guys (and a few girls) start yelling rice and laughing, a few seconds later the dude slams into a car pulling out onto the street.. both were totaled and there was quite a bang.. Needless to say everyone broke out laughing at the silly ricer trying to show off only to end up with a wrecked hundai. Was sory for the person in the other car, they got nailed in the drivers side door VERY hard.. ambulances were there very shortly though, dunno how it turned out. Anyways yea, always see car's that would be fun to race when on foot. -Jayson- 04-03-2005, 12:55 AM How's the new s'charger?? BTW linky in the sig no worky. :( Wanna get people to race you? Put an ECOTEC POWER banner across your windshield and install a body kit...you'll have more races than you want. and i would do that why? Oh yeah cause i dont have an ecotec engine. . . Mr. Luos 04-03-2005, 01:18 AM I tend to get a lot of slower cars fucking with me.... Cars that can hang with me....now those are worth it and fun. But honestly, there isn't many. nissanfanatic 04-03-2005, 01:18 AM I have the same problem as you Jayson. Its even worse now that I recirculated my BOV. IDK, I have gotten used to no races. But around here, everyone talks smack and never does anything. All the rednecks around here rag on me for having a 4 cylinder but don' ever wanna race. :dunno: TheStang00 04-03-2005, 01:27 AM not tryin to diss... but a lot of people might not take a cavalier that seriously, i know youd kick my ass tho lol. but usually cavys arent as fast as yours importeater38 04-03-2005, 01:29 AM no one is scared of your car dude. Your car looks stock as hell, except the gauges. If i saw your car pull up next to me, i would do the same thing all those cars did to you. Y? Simply because i wouldn't think your car would be any fun to race. From a cocky v-8 guys stand point (me), we only like to race each other, cars way out of our league and ligitmate imports. We race rice only when we want a laugh. Now, your car doesn't look like rice, so even though an lt1 or ls1 car will hand you your ass, it won't be any fun for us. So, put on a wing or some way too huge rims, im sure you will pick up more races. If u can get into the 13's you will have a legit sleeper if you keep it stock looking, but you will still have a problem picking up races i think. just my .02 TheStang00 04-03-2005, 01:45 AM i know a dude or actually hes not really a dude... hes kinda queer. but anyways he has a really riced out cavy (not saying yours is...) and he has a huge tac on his A pillar... well he has 120hp and an auto tranny. people like that are probably the reason you have trouble finding a race. tha_new_guy 04-03-2005, 03:54 AM and i would do that why? Oh yeah cause i dont have an ecotec engine. . . Dude its an old joke that us old farts used to recirculate. Ask Neutrino or some other old fart/mod about ECOT3C...good times. TatII 04-03-2005, 04:05 AM holy shit you reminded me of him. completely forgot about him. Ecotec was some dude that was around a while ago bragging about his n/a cavilier. i wonder what ever happend to him. hmmm -The Stig- 04-03-2005, 05:44 AM I personally wouldn't mess with a Cavalier. Most are driven by college students trying to save a buck or two on gas. Or by savy business guy... or what have you. Usually isn't the racers prime choice. Those that do race them, have nothing more than the usual I/H/E... and that's still not much better. :2cents: -Jayson- 04-03-2005, 12:30 PM yeah but if you saw a cavalier pull up next to you and heard the SC whine right in your ear, its alot louder with the smaller pulley. Then take off on you, you wouldnt be interested in racing? I understand its a cavalier, but i dont think a body kit will get me anything more than rice wanting to race. lickem 04-03-2005, 01:21 PM people just dont expect a cavy wanting to race. Ive seen a mustang with "yes i street race" on the license plate, i followed him and he wouldnt race lol. but maybe you should get one of those license plates importeater38 04-03-2005, 01:53 PM well, even at idle, i wouldn't hear your super charger over my exhaust, not too mention i would have my radio up way too loud, so i can hear it over my rediculous exhaust Igovert500 04-03-2005, 02:20 PM I'm with the general consensus, it's not that you scare them, it's probably they don't realize that you are a worthy opponent. I'd race ya, but I like going fast, and will race pretty much anything when I'm out. I know what you mean though, I hate it when I'm out trying to bait someone into a race and noone is biting. It sucks. nissanfanatic 04-03-2005, 04:05 PM i'm gonna say that most of those people don't race. I get a lot of people that drive pretty nice cars, but they don't race.:dunno: I even had some mustang GT in town that I was messin with. I was VTA at the time and I blew off right in his ear. My Type S is in the passenger fender so I know he heard it. All he did was jump. Face it, most people buy nice cars for status. And most of them have never pressed the throttle to the floor. silentscreams85 04-03-2005, 04:45 PM same problem here...i have almost no mods performance nor aesthetic...so finding races (even against slower cars) is a challenge...ill pull up to them rev it up and they look at me like im a retard or something...sad =/ tr0ike 04-03-2005, 08:50 PM I never have any luck ... found some people to run with back in high school when I drove my mom's stock 2001 civic coupe (not even EX/VTEC) ... but now that I've got a Golf with a few aesthetic mods (alloys, Europlate, few minor things only Dubbers would notice) I've never had a SINGLE race ... only once, a week after I got my car and was still learning stick - and it was still entirely stock. Wasn't even trying to race that time (Gen 1 Prius), just kept chirping my tires, shifting fast trying to learn manual (damn thing pulled on me anyway). What can you do ... gotta go to RaceLegal or something I guess, good old 1/8th mile track :uhoh: :uhoh: Thourun 04-03-2005, 09:00 PM Whats a dubber? Are they the bling people? -The Stig- 04-03-2005, 09:04 PM VW... Vdubbya... Vdubber? Dubber?? I dunno, that's what I figure. Thourun 04-03-2005, 09:19 PM Theres a magazine called dubs or somthing and its all about huge chrome wheels on SUVs and stuff. Twizted_3KGT 04-03-2005, 09:36 PM Yeah i'm with everyone else, its not that people are scared...it's just they don't know what you got and since its a Cavi nothing good would even consider you as being worth wasting gas. What you should do is find the people with the fast cars, and then talk shit until you setup a race. Mister_Sinister 04-03-2005, 10:07 PM You also gotta consider that just because someone drives a fast car that doesn't automatically mean they street race. Hell, there are lot's of people that race legally that won't race on the street. -Josh- 04-03-2005, 11:58 PM When i'm in the 79 Z28 i dont even waste my time on evo's (and i'm sure it goes with most heavily modified cars out there) so a cavalier trying to race me would just have me still sitting at the stoplight laughing for a bit.... MR2Driver 04-04-2005, 12:24 AM Thats so wierd, because most V8's in my area love to see what the MR2 can do. Most of em even know a lil bit about em... but then again I live on a college campus... mason_RsX 04-04-2005, 09:15 AM Theres a magazine called dubs or somthing and its all about huge chrome wheels on SUVs and stuff. Dubs just means doubles, which means 22' Rims...which are chromed up on your black Denali...I dunno what hes implying using it in the way he did... and Jayson if you wanna come to Canada there are enough ppl here with Civic + intake who think their runnin 9's for you to stomp on...a couple actual racers here to...plus if you get a ticket you dont have to pay Hypsi87 04-04-2005, 10:09 AM the SC whine on a four cylinder would not scare me one bit. Why anyone would make a supercharger kit for a 4 popper is beyond me. Think about this.... NA your engine is somewhere around the 135-150 HP range. so put on a supercharger at 6.5 PSI and the parasitic load is probabally close to 50-70 HP loss, Does not make sense to me. -Jayson- 04-04-2005, 11:31 AM the SC whine on a four cylinder would not scare me one bit. Vdubbya... Vdubber? Dubber?? I dunno, that's what I figure. Yah, sorry ... I'm used to posting on Euro sites only ... certainly not talking about 20 inch rims here :iceslolan Hypsi87 04-04-2005, 04:52 PM actually other people with the same setup as have dynoed around 200WHP. and if they would of spent just a little more effort they could of turbocharged it and had another 130 HP or so. I am not making fun of your car, just giving my 2 cents ZackKVtec 04-04-2005, 08:33 PM why do you drive a 1987 GN when you could be driving a Fox body, or a older Camaro V8 and be running 9's by now (since straight line speed is obviously all you care about) why? simply because that is your preference... end of story -Josh- 04-04-2005, 08:41 PM why do you drive a 1987 GN when you could be driving a Fox body, or a older Camaro V8 and be running 9's by now (since straight line speed is obviously all you care about) why? simply because that is your preference... end of story :eek7:     -The Stig- 04-04-2005, 08:44 PM Cause Grand Nationals were the one of the fastest cars in 1980s. Why start with something slow? Not that Mustangs or Camaros are slow, but in comparison to a GN... they are. ZackKVtec 04-04-2005, 08:47 PM how fast was your datsun out of the box? -The Stig- 04-04-2005, 08:50 PM on a good day... high high 15s... that was back in 1972. For 1972, that was pretty respectible when considering the gas crunch and the fact that the muscle cars were starting to slow wayy down. EDIT: Oh, and going fast in a straight line isn't all I care about. So... I really don't care how fast it is in a straight line. ZackKVtec 04-04-2005, 08:52 PM i understand what your saying, but preference is preference and some prefer turbos, some prefer displacement, some prefer sc... dont knock what other people got... unless you have it, then its perfectly ok to say how much superchargers suck, god damn parasites Hypsi87 04-04-2005, 08:57 PM why do you drive a 1987 GN when you could be driving a Fox body, or a older Camaro V8 and be running 9's by now (since straight line speed is obviously all you care about) why? simply because that is your preference... end of story 1. they are not just for straight line only, they used that regal G-body in NASCAR,TRANS AM, varouis SCCA events (Go Buick motorsports 2. they are accually worth something 3. I went 11's for under 2,500 bucks and not posi 4. EVERYONE DRIVES A fox body 5. It would take well over a 3 grand to get a camaro or fox to do what a GN will do for 500 bucks 6. My car gets 23 MPG 7. I still have AC. 8. cofortably seats five 9. GN's hold a certian level of respect from ANY gearhead... (unless they don't know what they are doing) 10. EVERYONE drives a camaro 11. I pay 65 bucks a month for full coverage insurance with everything except towing. 12. Corvettes hate my car 13. I bet you wish you had one and last but not least, I can fix six women in my car and still have room to switch positions. 14. I can run 26 PSI and not worrry about droping my bottom end all over the track Running nines???? dude, I am building a nine second car and I will tell you what, I have about 3 grand in speed parts in my car and they are all bolt ons. stock pistons, stock crank, stock heads, stock connecting rods, stock intake, ported NOTHING!. Take a camaro or a fox body and make them weigh 3,545 lbs like my car and get them in the LOW 11's (11.21,11.25) on pump gas, working A/C, power everything. Better yet, get ANY Camaro or Mustang into the nines for 3 grand. I was not disrespecting Jayson, his car is impressive, any 4 popper that started it's life NA in the low 14's soon to be 13's is good to go in my book. I just voiced how I felt GM should of handled doing a supercharger on thoes cars. SO..... before you go insulting a legend. ( The car, not me) Do your research. -Josh- 04-04-2005, 08:58 PM god damn parasites :sly: Who's a parasite, this is an open discussion forum, he can put his opinion in if he wants to and he shouldn't have to worry about someone telling him how much his OPINION sucks. Lighten up, you gave your opinion but there's no need to call someone a parasite or whatever. -The Stig- 04-04-2005, 09:02 PM Uh, I think he was refering to the parasitic loss of a S/C... ZackKVtec 04-04-2005, 09:05 PM dumb stuff, i like GN's and this forum, i aint gonna argue over nothin ZackKVtec 04-04-2005, 09:06 PM i did not attack anyone, just staing my opinion in this open forum. buddy, i didnt attack your car until you flizzled out.. i like GN's they do what they're made to do TheStang00 04-04-2005, 09:10 PM this thread is gettin rediculous... :disappoin Hypsi87 04-04-2005, 09:14 PM i did not attack anyone, just staing my opinion in this open forum. buddy, i didnt attack your car until you flizzled out.. i like GN's they do what they're made to do I want to apoligize, I have just been around a bunch of "you need a v-8 to make REAL POWER!" people all morning followed by the "Well my b18cjheugasdf;likj Honda swap will run 10's when I put my blue cone filter and stobe lights on it then you GN won' be shit....." people I have been on the offensive allllllll day. No hard feelings? ZackKVtec 04-04-2005, 09:22 PM of course not, i love all automobiles, and GN is a waaaay better way to go than mustang or camaro, i love FI -The Stig- 04-04-2005, 09:27 PM Glad we can all play nice nice...
