Question antenna switch

I was wondering if anyone switched their stock g20 antenna with another antenna that doesn't retract (like the small stubby black one). I have a 2000 g20 and I wanted to switch it with something like the VW antenna except keep the antenna where it is right now. Thanks!

It doesn't sound like that would be hard to do . . . I'm sure somebody has done it, I've never seen or heard of it though.

You don't want one on the roof?

I think the switching should go like this: disconnect everything, take the old antenna out, install the new one, connect what is necessary

If I could, I would get one on the roof like the VWs, but where would you go to do that? And how much will it cost because doesn't it require cutting and drilling? Thanks!

I like the roof mount look also but no one will do it in Miami because it involves cutting the roof and if it leaks they don't want to be responsible....

However, there is a 10 dollar fake everydody is selling ....

you could take out the old antenna and wire it to your defroster. that way you dont need anything sticking out. like the new accords that dont have antennas.

YIPES don't wire it to your defroster.... when you power it on ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ lol..... The new G's have that already (a different circuit path) At least my g and I'm guessing all 99+ use the nissan diversity antenna, it takes the best of two signals from the power ant. and the rear glass mount one (you'll see a different set of gold "track" on the rear windshield, thats the antenna... now if you unhook your rear defogger I "Think" you could use it as an antenna, don't know how effective since it's not propperly designed for that though.

That is what I did. Since I moved to Miami .. I have not seen any reason to use the de fogger since there is no fog nor any ice on my windshield ..... ( i miss those Jersey winters ) ....

Worked fine .. then I drove up new Drocks area and saw fog like you can not believe ... ( orlando ) Central florida is on fire and with the rain it makes fog at night like crazy ...

So don't ... just in case ....
