convertible weather stripping problem. Pic inside!

The other day It poured. Like crazy rain. The inside of the car was dry completely. The next day I hit a bump and I got a cup of water on my lap. I was confused but found it coming from around the latches. The only cause for this that I found might be the weather stripping. On the side it seemed to leak in from the weatherstripping was tucked in. I took 2 pictures and they can be seen here...

It's the last 2 pictures on the page. How is the weather stripping suppose to lay? Right now I have it pulled out because that made the most sense...

Re: convertible weather stripping problem. Pic inside!

Since no one responded I am doing a little experiment (not on purpose!) I pulled both pieces by the locking mechanisms out. It's raining and we are suppose to get 1-3 inches. I'll let you know if my car is still dry in the morning...

Mine would leek also.... I used the heavy duty scotchguard and really douced the top with it.... had only a few drops everynow and again...
I don't know if the regular scotchguard works but I don't fuck around!!! use the HEAVY DUTY (high traffic) scotchguard first... that and armourall your weather stripping really good too.... should stop most of your leaks...

Re: Re: convertible weather stripping problem. Pic inside!

I guess it's time to clean the weather stripping haha. IF anyone has any advice on the pictures so I know how the weather stripping should lay by the latches that would be great.

We got alot of rain today. I drove in it. My work shirt which I used to soak it up after work is all wet. So is my jacket, my seats and everything ot the left and right side. It comes from the latch and where the top meets the windsheild on the drivers side (at the corner). On the passenger side it's where the top meets the windsheild at the corner. It's like a stream of water. It however only occurs when I turn or when I hit a bump (car dips), and when I shift and the car bucks a little...

Like I said... try the scotchguard... it's a cheap thing to try before you go diggin into the more expensive alternatives... otherwise talk to boostedspyder / vince as to where he got his new seals...

thanks. Quick question were you using actual scotch guard on the top (canvas) or on the weather stripping before you armoralled it?

Re: convertible weather stripping problem. Pic inside!

cleaned all the weather stripping with armor all. IT appears that water is actually laying in the rains on the side's of the car. Maybe it's running down from there. Some of the drains in the stripping seem to have not been lining up so I tried to get them bent back into place a bit. next to clean and try to water proof the top. If all else fails I drive with buckets! it's still such an awesome car.
