whiny fuel pump?eddieeckenrode 03-31-2005, 09:46 PM I never noticed a whinning noise coming from my tank before and irt only does it when tank is low , but even so never made this noise, and a'm always paying attention to my truck. Does any one know if this is a sign for fuel pump failure, or a'm I just trippin? 16th hippy 03-31-2005, 10:03 PM when u say "when the tank is low", how low is it. If you are running on fumes, it will start to whine as the pump is lubricated by the gasoline in the tank. if low but not quite to fumes yet, could be just the fuel sloshing around and not all of it getting to the pump. BlazinUP 03-31-2005, 10:07 PM theres been a post about this subject..... search "fuel pump" dmbrisket 51 03-31-2005, 10:50 PM ill sum up the post for you, its normal for our pumps to whine, suprised youve never noticed it b4, unless its the smaller moters (i4's) then your letting the tank get to low OverBoardProject 04-01-2005, 01:23 AM the best way to burn out your fuel pump is to always run your tank low. Someone that I used to work with got a saying from his dad that is very true. It cost's the same amount to keep the top 1/2 of your gas tank full as the bottom 1/2. And then you'll never run out of gas vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
