Brake light on 2002 Volvo S40

The brake light (not the hand brake light) on my dash keeps blinking on and off. Does anyone know why and how do I fix it?

Try checking your brake fluid level.Sometimes its just low enough to cause light to come on while your driving.If its low you may have brake pads that need replaced
