I have the factory delco cd player. When I put the cd in I now get an "err" on the display and it spits out the disc. I have been searching the web for a repair guide but have only found sites selling the radio. I wanted to know the fix for this problem and maybe a tut. I can solder and do electronic repairs. Does anyone know how to fix this or a website that has information?

Thank you

I did a quick google search and came up with the following number for GM Delco publications:

GM Delco Publications
Tel: 1-313-974-0341

Here's what I searched with in google:

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2005-08,GGLD:en&q=Delco+radio+repair+manual

The GM pub link above is #7 in the search results under "Sci.Electronics FAQ: Repair: Manuals"

Edit/follow-up: I looked at GM's page at http://www.gmc.com/contactus/telephoneus_serviceman.jsp?brand=yukon&commercial=#TOP

and found two 800#s (not specific to the stereos, but they may have additional #s at these 800s in case the 313# is a bust or you don't want to call long-distance) :

Inside the U.S.:
1-800-551-4123

Inside Canada:
1-800-551-4123

I was trying to find some diagrams online or how-to online. But that is impressive. I am going to call them today.

Thank You,

No problemo.

Its all in how you formulate the query. Some words work where others don't. That was an easy one.

Its not really that impressive. I just have way too much time on my hands!

IMO factory radios are not worth the time or money to repair. Mine did the exact same thing to me about a week or two ago and was like that about a daay or so but it fixed itself. If it was going to stay like that i would have purchased an aftermarket cd player.

I like fixing my own stuff, when I can figure it out. If I can't fix it I will get one off ebay. They are going for at least $75 right now. I like factory better, for appearances anyway. It fits perfectly. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Do the MP3 playing units out of the Colorado fit in our dashes? I'd really like to have a factory MP3 player in the truck (my wife got my MP3 player out of my car that I traded in on "the beast").

easy fix. go to wall-mart or any store that sells cd's. get a cd cleaning disk. drop it into the player and let it work. dust on the eye will not let it read.
repeat the cleaning a few times. test with a new disk.

thay will also sell a disk cleaner and restore. if the disk has a lot of scratches it will not read the disk.

cds can be distroyed if left in the sun on the dash. the cd life is shorten when left in a hot truck. the heat will mess with the foil in the disk befor it worps.

This may or may not work. Depends on whether or not the laser's been damaged. You can damage the unit by using extended (over 80 minute) CDs.

It's worth a shot, but not a 100% guarantee of a fix. I'd also suggest resetting the unit by disconnecting the power either by removing a battery cable or by disconnecting the unit from the harness.
