97 Lots of white smoke...?slpj 03-26-2005, 03:23 PM Hello, I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or not. My wife filled up with gas the other day and every since, when the truck finally starts up, lots of white smoke rolls out. I can keep it running by revving the accelerator and it slowly stops smoking. I added dry gas, but the symptoms continue. Could it be allot of water in the gas or a small head gasket leak, or better yet a bad sensor? I do not notice any change in the oil and coolant levels. odog96 03-30-2005, 10:39 AM Sorry to have to ask, but did she use diesel? 4Wheel 04-02-2005, 09:23 AM More information would help, mainly if it's a V6? If it is, sounds like the headgasket. Brian R. 04-02-2005, 12:06 PM No matter what engine it is, it sounds like a headgasket. slpj 04-03-2005, 12:23 PM To everyone that replied, "Thanks for your Help". The truck started to clear up somewhat after the addition of the dry gas a few days later, but my wife stated that it didn't seem to have the normal power so I went ahead and put it into the shop in case it was the head gasket. It ended up being "contaminated fuel", which is somewhat of a mystery to the fuel supplier that supplies the fuels to the store where my wife filled up at. The supplier had several calls about the fuel that was in the tank where my wife filled up at and when they investigated the issue, they stated that it seemed to have a "diesel" mixture in the tank of mid-grade gasoline. The Toyota shop drained the contaminated fuel out and gave the truck a tune up and it seems to be running fine now. I'm going to be checking the fluid levels weekly to make sure that it didn't cause any other damage. The fuel supplier told me to send them a copy of the repair bill and they would reimberse me. "Thanks Again" for your replies and what a "Great Forum" this is. Brian R. 04-03-2005, 09:32 PM That was very good work to figure that out. Your mechanic is a good one. Mrbikerman 04-04-2005, 08:10 PM Just wondering if anyone has seen the video on worlds wildet police chases where some guy filled up his car ( I think it was a porsche ) with diesel, and the cop following him couldnt see the road at all.
