Hello,
I'm looking at a 96' 4 Runner, manual, 2WD with 160K miles. Price is very good, but I'm not too sure about the 4 cylinder version of this truck. Is it a complete dog? It's a 2.7 liter. I don't tow anything heavy or do anything extreme, just comute to work and maybe tow a motorcycle on occasion.

Thanks for the input!

I bet it would do the job for you quite well. Take it for a test drive and have a mechanic look it over thouroughly.

The 2.7L makes good power for a 4-cyl we have one in our Tacoma and it's plenty fast with the proper axle gears for the tires we have on it. 4Runner's are quite a bit heavier but if you are not a speed demon then I agree with Brian that you will most likely be happy with it. Especially since it is a manual and 2WD because both of those factors will make better use of the available power.

It's a stronger engine than the old 3.0 L V6 in the 2nd gen 4Runners.
