Screeching Noise on my new (but old) 318i

Hi, complete newbie here so please excuse if I asking something stupid.

I just bought a 318i yr 92 and it makes a horrible screeching noise normally when I pull away and normally when the car is cold. Someone told me it id the power steering belt as it also makes the noise when I have the wheels turned to the maximum. I looked under the bonet and there are three belts, I don't know which one makes the noise or how to fix it - any ideas?

Other problems include:
1) Electric Passenger Window doesn't move up and down properly.
2) Mileage display (digital) doesn't light properly so I can see the total mileage but not the trip mileage.
3) Water drips in when I have the driver sidfe window open.
4) Air con doesn't seem to work.

Hope you can help with some or all of my issues - apart from those itr is soooo nice to drive!!

Cheers,
Dan.

Might want to check your power steering fluid first. It's a lil cannister looking thing with a screw on dipstick. It takes ATF fluid, and might say ATF on the cap.

1) Electric Passenger Window doesn't move up and down properly.
It's a common problem on E36's . . Does it go up an inch at a time?
If so . . you have to buy a new motor. I have the same problem.

2) Mileage display (digital) doesn't light properly so I can see the total mileage but not the trip mileage.
This may help to get inside of the Instument Cluster and you may have to replace some LED's . . . http://www.logun.org/gauges.htm

3) Water drips in when I have the driver sidfe window open.
I have the same problem . . . don't roll down your window.

4) Air con doesn't seem to work.
Could be a number of problems . . . Does it turn on? If so you could need a recharge or need a new condensenor or a new A/C Compressor?

Good Luck ! !
