Escort Mods- I moved this here for you. A. Souphound 03-22-2005, 09:18 AM I have a mk1 escort which will not start,it was running okay... i have a spark comming from the coil but no spark at the plugs....help Check the ignition module connector for cleanliness and security. Check the engine to chassis ground (-) for cleanliness and security. Spark from the coil wire should be bright blue in color? (Bright blue indicates high voltage as it should be.) If not, problem is in the primary circuit, probably the ignition module. If the spark is O.K. proceed on. Check distributor cap and rotor for cracks, carbon tracks, burned or loose terminals. Make sure the rotor spring tension is adequate. If any of the defects mentioned exist, replace both components. If after making these checks, and still no spark at the plugs the problem could be the magnetic pick-up in the distributor. Let us know what you find. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
