Smile What are symptoms of intake leak or problem

I have a 98 GT with a miss on cylinder 2. Replaced wires, plugs, modules, injector and plenum. Love the car, just want problem to go away.

Re: What are symptoms of intake leak or problem

is the cylinder getting spark?

or you might not be getting any compression in the cylinder either, either your compression rings are gone, or the there is an issue with one of the valves

Re: What are symptoms of intake leak or problem

As far as I can tell it is running fine while I am driving, this only happens when I'm sitting at Idle.

Re: What are symptoms of intake leak or problem

ok again check for spark (and check the gap of the spark too)

then make sure you have compression in the cylinder

3 required things to get an engine to run:

1) fuel
2) compression
3) spark

Re: What are symptoms of intake leak or problem

The spark is fine and the gap is good. Everything points to a vacuum leak but I can't be sure. I just want to explore all options befor having to disassemble the whole intake.

To check for vacuum leak spray carb cleaner around suspect areas while car is idling. when you spray the leak the idle will change dramatically.
