2001 GP-GT 3.8L 206,700 miles original tranny and engine in it... Was running fine til yesterday when I noticed on the highway the rpm needle was running at 3000 rpm at 65 mph...I know my car should be at 2250 rpm's also noticed a humming noise with my foot on the gas when I took it off the gas the noise stopped...All shifts seem to be ok but feels like she is jumping out of the starting box at green lights...Can anyone help me with this...PLEASE HELP!!!

It sounds like you are in need of a transmission service shop. The tranny is probably going out and is starting to slip in the higher gears. The description you gave indicates that the torque converter may also be going bad. After 200K miles consider yourself lucky with the service you got from this transmission.

Thank you for your help and answer, any idea about price range being that its just starting to go out? A ball park figure would be kind.

Congratulations on the 206,700 miles on your 4T65-E tranny. Its the highest mileage I've heard about on a 2001. Regardless, you got your monies worth out of the engine and tranny. Good luck!

The cost of a complete rebuild will be in the $2000 to $2400 range. Mine was $2400 to replace at AAMCO but they had to practically replace everything inside the transmission. The gave me a 3 year 36K mile warranty with my rebuild.
Make sure they replace the torque converter since it would be useless to put in a new tranny without replacing the converter. You may also want to consider having the axle shafts replaced too. It will cost a little more but it will insure reliability of the new transmission. My axle shafts were good as they had been replaced once before. Of course my figures are just estimates since it depends on what they find when they get it torn down. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
