99 Exp Gear shifter dropped down 1 gearcase2k5 03-17-2005, 05:42 PM My gear shift is now at R (reverse) when it is in park and my D (drive) is in the (1st gear). One day I was driving and I felt the whole exp slip and then my gear shifter went out of alignment. Does anybody know what this is? Thanks drharper 07-29-2005, 05:13 PM Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago - I was parking and when I switched it to Park it felt like it slipped. Now the indicator is off when it's in Drive it shows 2 instead like yours. No idea how to fix it. I tried shifting it around but I didn't want to make it much worse. way2old 07-29-2005, 07:59 PM Either the shift tube bushings are worn in the steering column, cable out of adjustment on the trans linkage, loose bolts at the bottom of shifter linkage inside the vehicle, or the little string that moves the pointer is out of adjustment. shifter bushings require the steering column to be partially removed cable adjustment is on side of transmission bolts are in linkage just above the brake pedal where the cable attaches to the shifter indicator string is under the dash(lower hush panel under the steering wheel) and is adjusted by a little plastic wheel Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
