2002 Jetta Stock CD & AM/FM Player Issues

I need some advice: I recently (January) bought a 2002 1.8T and didn't go with the stereo upgrade. The car was early off the assembly line, and the dealer had to add the CD player after.

The issue is this: I don't think the sound is very good from either the stereo or the CD, and I'm not sure if it's ever really good or if the thing just isn't installed correctly or something. As it is, the volume level between the CD and FM is different, and while I can get some treble and bass out of it, the mids seem really muddy. On the whole, the sound is considerably less than impressive.

What do people think? Is the stock 2002 Jetta sound really just mediocre, or is there something wrong? If it's normal, what are people upgrading to? And are new speakers required as well?

Thanks for any help,

Nickb

No problem here

Question.....did you get the Monsoon system or regular?
I have the Monsoon and it sounds pretty good for a stock system.
When in doubt, go back to the dealer and have them re-check the installation.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, Im impressed with the Monsoon considering the speakers size and weight. If you want to upgrade, speakers are the only thing that produce sound, so I would also upgrade them. No use in adding a nuclear missle to a truck if the trucks tires arent armored enough to take it anywhere...

Hey, I have same problem. They put new CD player (they replaced same premium player), but the new one is total disappointment. It sounds like mono, and there is virtually no bass. Did anyone help you with your problem???
