TB Specs

Going to reno this weekend yet again. Gonna go back to that oldsmobile Achieva High Output I got my new IDI from and gonna take out the intake manifold along with the TB can anyone supply me with specs for the stock TB and intake manifold on my 01 2.4L and some specs on that intake manifold and TB from the HO olds?

All I know from the top of my head is I think my TB is 52 mm and that the Olds's TB is 62-63mm I believe? but I may just be dreaming these numbers up. help a guy out?

Re: TB Specs

what do u mean by specs? like- size? gains? what a PITA it is to fab the combo to ur 2k1 motor? and ur about right on the TB size- i do believe the HO is 63mm.. definatly overkill on a stock motor.. you'll probably be losing a few HP/TQ from that TB without some sort of boost/exhaust/internals.

uhhh.... no! Better air flow combined with more air = more HP+torque. What happend when you installed an Intake over your stock air box. Don't go around posting wrong info if you have no idea what your talking about.

Re: TB Specs

ugh... im right! that HO mani + the STOCK TB will give u some HP gains- that HO TB is OVERKILL on the 2.4 STOCK MOTOR.. do u even know what a dyno is? ever read some dyno charts on this mod? i suggest you do.. google it my friend, im right- you're wrong. extra air does NOT equal more power- extra air to a motor that doesnt have any use for it is just wasted air out the tailpipe. do some homework.

Re: TB Specs

yeah a 62MM TB is to big for a NA engine. The biggest i would go on a NA cavalier is 58 or 59MM. After that your going to lose some low end torque.

Re: TB Specs

makes sense. I think I'm actually considering sticking with the stock TB on the Intake manifold. I'll just have to fab the mounting bracket to the TB

thank you Ny J-bodies library.

Re: TB Specs

For some reason when i read that quickly i thought the HO was a 52-53 TB as well.. i stand corrected and i take back my harsh comment. Everyone is entitled to a fuck up.
