Does anyone know what engine (other than the carb model) I can put in this?
What I would like to do is put a FI engine in this vehicle, I bought it for $200 and it runs good as is, I would just like a little more power, and no carb.

I understand the wiring mods and such, but which engine will bolt in to it, changing out the trans is not an option (I don't think) because of the tranfer case for the 4WD being part of it.

I have a recently rebuilt carb for an '86 Vista Colt. Mine too had little power until I had the carb rebuilt (by one of the best -- he rebuilds all the carbs for the UPS trucks). He said to just put it in, not to worry about the settings that he had it set right. He was right, too. Within the year I blew the engine,now I have a carb available. I paid close to 600 for it and will let it go for 200. I'll guarantee you'll be happy with it, too.

I have an '87 4WD, but that was the first year they had fuel injection.

My '86 has beautiful interior, like new. I'd hate to junk it. What engine are you thinking of putting in yours? Is it possible to put it on an entirely different chassis?
