Re: garrett turbo

^^ turbo will be right up there in price aswell. Figure your intercooler will be almost 1,000 alone depending on who makes it. If GM ever gets one out for the ecotec it will be by far cheaper than a turbo setup.

wrong wrong wrong. You can build a custom turbo kit for less than 1,500 bucks. If you know what to look for. And expect the 2.2L ecotec supercharger kit, if it ever comes out, to cost around 3,000-4,000 bucks for the first 2 years or so.

True anyone can go out and get a turbo compressor, exhaust manifold, waste gate, BOV, Oil feed & return lines, Charge pipes, down pipes, couplers & mounting equipment and intercooler for dirt cheap if you know where to look and get it from. But to just run 6-7 psi isn't worth it to me. I don't see is feasable to spend that much and in a few months-years see my engine throw a rod encounter detination. If you want to half-ass a setup then feel free to spend only 1,500 bucks. Sorry but thats not how i roll.

Re: garrett turbo

internal upgradse are not part of a turbocharger, and incase you dont know, 10 PSI is still safe in the LD9.

Re: garrett turbo

What turbo you use doesn't matter so long as it bolts up to the manifold and downpipe! www.importperfromance.com have a kit that uses garret turbines! I wouldn't buy a turbo from e-bay unless your a happy-go-lucky kind of guy! Also I wouldn't trust a used turbo unless you plan to recondition it! Kitsa aren't cheap for that though! Best to buy new!!!!!

Re: garrett turbo

building up first is only good if you plan on running alot of boost. Most people dont run more 6-7 PSI on a cavalier. Because once you start getting above that you need to start doing other things, like transmission build up, Axle build up, LSD, Much better tires, everything involved in the drive train needs to get built up after around 10 PSI. Not many people are going to spend that kind of money on a cavalier. 6-7 PSI is totally fine for a stock engine, but you will need fuel management.
