Does anyone that owns the new Grand Cherokee actually take it off road, i'm not talking like to get to their cabin in the woods, like serious off roading. if i had one i would do it alot. my friends dad has a limited and he lets me drive it all the time, they rule!

My grandpa will probably be getting one on August 16, in cash (!). He hasnt taken his Cherokee sport off-road, and wont with the grand. It is a nice vehicle, but I tried my best to get him into a car, but he is against it.

They are awesome, check out the (I think August 1999 Motor trend) off road torture test, and they called the jeep the best vehicle. It might be another test, Im not sure.

Yea I took mine once!
When I bought my '99 Grand Cherokee Loredo I had a leak in the 4WD diff. and had it repaired while still under warranty. Just before my warranty expired I wanted to take her out and see what she was made of. I went to a place that was recommended by someone WHO DOESN"T OWN A 4WD
Climbed a few hills and was on my way to the steepest hill out there when all of a sudden the front end DROPPED.
As it turned out there was a creek there some time ago and it was still pretty wet. I had a family member come and try to get me out...
He got stuck too!! We ended up getting a farmer with a HUGE 6 wheel drive tractor to get both of us out. Cost me $125.00, scratched my rims and my wife still bitches about it a year and a half later.
Maybe one day I'll get the balls to take it out again... but no time soon!

I regularly take my '03 GC V8 out on the beaches of Long Island. In the summer the very soft sand make mince meat of mear mortal 4wd's.

This is my 5th jeep that I do this with and have had noooo troubles.

OK, my '81 AMC CJ-7 had some, but that was a basket case.

I take my 95 JGC Laredo out when it snows heavy. Around where i live there are quite a few hills, and when the snow coveres them its just plain fun.

The best memory i've had was when the snow was about halfway up into my headlights. I put the traction on and went. It scratched my bumper and "lifted" it upwards but nothing serious. I was with about 5 buddies so we all had fun.

YES! Why would you be a real jeep owner and not "really" take it off road. I love my jeep and have had some problems, however, it still goes off road.

ive taken my jeep off road a handful of times, last time i went i ended up digging to get to my axels it was sweet, but its a lot less expensive to go w/ somone else thats all i got to say

My 97 JGC is my only vehicle, however I still go offroad any chance I get. That is the whole reason I bought it so I wouldn't and couldn't be limited. Of coarse common since does apply.

Living here in WV I have not had the oppurtunity to try my '94 JGC limited out off road in the mud. A few reasons why: 1.) My primary and only vehicle, I need wheels to get around. 2.) If something gets broke I am not only out of a vehicle but with little money to get it fixed. All work that is done is by me only cause I usually can not afford to take it to a certified mechanic. 3.) Red clay mud... I should not need to say anymore. I have all season radials on my Jeep, nut mud tires and any place you go mudding around here is going to be red clay mud. The slickest mud I have seen. Plenty of vehicles I have seen trapped in just 3 inches of it, even the ones with big burly meat hooks hanging from the sides of their tires. Funny to see a jacked up truck with 35" mud tires stuck in 3" of mud. Can't even stand on your own 2 feet cause it is so slick and this is perfect time of the year to go on some ridges to find out what your vehicle is made of. Been raining for a few weeks almost steady.
