Re: possible engine swaps

possible swaps? quite endless..
1.8 lt 8v & 16v (pre '92), 2.0 16v (of mk3), VR6 (2.8 or 2.9 ltrs), 1.8t (of mk4), 1.8t 20v, Audi S3(1.8turbo) and goes on...
most of the above need minor mods/different mounts and/or a different gearbox. I think though that the 02A gearbox will fit all of them.
you will have though to do serious mods ini the wiring looms...

I've seen a mk II Golf with a VR6 engine and a Mercedes 'compressor'(supercharger) it fits, but after fitting it you can't close the hood anymore. I have to add, if you place this much power in a standard Golf mk II without further modifications, you'll ripp the car apart, so be carefull!

I hear ya!

I'll be doing the same thing as you-workin hard at finding what I need to get this Golf some respectable power!! I'll let you know what I find and where. Wife thinks I'm nuts, but oh well; she'll dig it when it's done! I can only go so far with engine mods due to Calif Smog laws, but I'll see what I can get away with! Have a good one...
