1.8 or 2.0

hi you guys, i'm looking the possibility of buying a tow yard golf, wich is in pretty good shape, i mean, considering that is in a tow yard. There is also a Jetta, wich have a 2.0 engine, and the Golf is I think a 1.8. I'll probably try to get both, but is it posible to put the 2.0 engine in the Golf?, i'm a chevy enthusiastic, so i don't know nothing about VW. Any help, it'll be appreciated.

i forget to tell you guys, the Golf is a 90-94 and the Jetta is 96-99 or something like that i think it's GenIII. Golf is 5-Speed standard, and the Jetta is 4-Speed Automatic. Thanx.

Re: 1.8 or 2.0

The engines are pretty different & you would have to change all the accessory components with the engine. This can become a problem as the ECM's are different between A/T & M/T and you would be trying to put an A/T ECM into the manual Golf.
