Lumina Hood Release Lever..BROKEN...HELP!!

My hood release lever on my 1993 Lumina Euro that is located on the floor of the driver's side has broken. I can see the cable, and tried pulling on it with a pliers to release the hood, and I got no response. If anyone could help, please do so, I really need this information because I can't afford to get a new car. Thanks.

Well it could have broke the cable from wear, or from being tight and no lubrication, if its that tight you probably wont be able to pull it, could also be frayed inside the housing locking it up, try pulling with a large pair of Vice Grip's
Only other option is go in thru the grill and release hood, or maybe if its open enough and you can reach up there, up behind front bumper, cut cable and try pulling from there, but from what i remember, cable is pretty well hidden out there.
How to go in thru grill? remove all the grill screws you can and "hope" you can get it out. if not, busting grill out is about the only other way.
But try a long blade screwdriver and try to locate the end of the cable at hood latch in thru grill and pop it before screwing up the grill

Probably binding, that's why it broke. Have someone press down on the hood a little while you pull on whats left of the cable with pliers. It should help it open easier.

My hood release lever broke too. It is too expensive to buy a new cable with a lever. For the meantime, you can get a key ring and hook it on to the "T-looking" part of the cable. The wrench plan works too, but you have to be patient and pull the cable a certain way in order to opent he hood. If you pull on it carefully it will open the hood. The best thing to do is find a junk Lumina and take the part from there. I eventually found a lever from a junk Lumnia (which are very hard to find). I found that most other Luminas also have this broken lever problem.
