whole car shaking at around 50 to 55 mphbobthebanana 03-08-2005, 07:27 PM ive had my jeep for about a year now it was fine up until 6months ago. when i hit around 55 mph the whole car shakes. some one told me it was the steering damper so got a new one and put it in but it still does it any suggestions? mikec041 03-08-2005, 09:26 PM Try getting your wheels balanced. 1976 cj7 03-08-2005, 09:29 PM Hey Hows It Going. Did You Try Just Ballancing The Tires. It Sounds So Simple But Sometimes It Does The Trick. I Used To Work For A Dealer And We Always Had Customers With That Problem And 9 Times Out Of Ten, It Was Just An Unbalanced Tire. Hope This Helps. Good Luck. SteveB05 03-09-2005, 06:56 AM Could be the track bar also. Have someone rock the steering back and forth a 1/4 turn each way while you look at the frame end of the bar. If it has visible movement, change it. lolove2u 03-10-2005, 11:08 AM ive had my jeep for about a year now it was fine up until 6months ago. when i hit around 55 mph the whole car shakes. some one told me it was the steering damper so got a new one and put it in but it still does it any suggestions? I had the same problem with my 97 jeep. I would get to about 50 or 55 and the whole car would shake. I found out that one off my front tires was really bad and until i could purchase a new one i switched it to the back. That stopped most of the shaking until i purchase new tires. That did the trick and never had any problem with it shaking again! hope this helps. msrjeep 03-13-2005, 12:51 PM it could be any joints in the front end, track bar, control arm bushings, etc. or a wheel that isn't balanced. do an alignment and get your tires balanced and check for slop in the front end. if it's coming from the rear end it's probably a rear driveshaft. davi137 07-12-2005, 11:51 AM try cleaning your fuel injectors. sounds wierd but it helped my 98 fredjacksonsan 07-12-2005, 12:03 PM Do a search under "Death Wobble" and you'll find some answers. Many of them are already here, including balancing tires, out of round tires, and steering components. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
