ive had my jeep for about a year now it was fine up until 6months ago. when i hit around 55 mph the whole car shakes. some one told me it was the steering damper so got a new one and put it in but it still does it any suggestions?

Try getting your wheels balanced.

Hey Hows It Going. Did You Try Just Ballancing The Tires. It Sounds So Simple But Sometimes It Does The Trick. I Used To Work For A Dealer And We Always Had Customers With That Problem And 9 Times Out Of Ten, It Was Just An Unbalanced Tire. Hope This Helps. Good Luck.

Could be the track bar also. Have someone rock the steering back and forth a 1/4 turn each way while you look at the frame end of the bar. If it has visible movement, change it.

I had the same problem with my 97 jeep. I would get to about 50 or 55 and the whole car would shake. I found out that one off my front tires was really bad and until i could purchase a new one i switched it to the back. That stopped most of the shaking until i purchase new tires. That did the trick and never had any problem with it shaking again! hope this helps.

it could be any joints in the front end, track bar, control arm bushings, etc. or a wheel that isn't balanced. do an alignment and get your tires balanced and check for slop in the front end. if it's coming from the rear end it's probably a rear driveshaft.

Do a search under "Death Wobble" and you'll find some answers. Many of them are already here, including balancing tires, out of round tires, and steering components.
