Sport Package 740IL... what exactly is it?michaelwil 03-07-2005, 07:17 AM I have a 1998 740IL with out the Sport Package. I have a deposit on a used 2001 740IL WITH a Sport Package that I have to make a decision on by tomorrow 3-8-05. I put about 25,000 miles per year on the car and don't want to be buying expensive tires every year. What is the difference between the Sport and non-Sport? How much different is the ride itself? If I put 17" wheels back on it will it help the tire life? Anyone try the Falkin brand of tires, they get a good write up? THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!! libertylover 03-07-2005, 07:25 AM I could be wrong but I think "Sport" model has electronically adjustable struts and, if so, you'll see some wires going to the struts. If they're not adjustable, they're probably stiffer than the normal 740iL struts. Also, they come with different wheels. Probably bigger brakes as well. jcarey 03-09-2005, 04:15 PM I have a 1998 740IL with out the Sport Package. The Sport option in the iL is more cosmetic than true sport. 18" M-Parallel staggered rims, Michelin Pilot Sport tires, M-Sport Steering Wheel, and Shadowline exterior trim. The 740 sport adds, Steptronic transmission, Higher stall speed tourque convertor and M-Sport springs and Struts. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
